Taiwanese are learning hard lessons about democracy. Many voters do horrible things not knowing what they do can so seriously and so profoundly hurt their fellow citizens, their children and neighbors:
- They sell their votes
- In an election for legislators, they do not vote for qualified legislators. Instead, they vote for someone who they know, who their friends or relatives ask them to vote, who are KMT candidates, or those who cry most noisily when showing up for funerals.
- 7,659,014 people voted Ma Ying-Jeou president in 2008 (against 5,444,949 for Frank Hsieh), resulting in the worst disaster in Taiwan's history.
Taiwanese should not make the same mistake by voting people similar to, sympathetic to, or who support Ma Ying-Jeou. That means:
Absolutely do not vote KMT. Absolutely do not vote 中國國民黨.
